Agnes Irwin School senior midfielder Olivia Goodman has signed a letter of intent to play next year at Vanderbilt University.
Goodman, an honorable mention All-Inter Ac League pick last season, chose the Nashville, Tenn., school due to its campus atmosphere and coaching staff.
“I chose to go down South because I love the campus,” she said. “It’s beautiful and I love that it is in Nashville, but that while you’re on the campus, you feel so secluded.
“It’s five minutes away from the city, and it’s a fun city. I also liked coach (Cathy) Sweezey, and when I met the team they were the nicest people.”
Goodman is planning to major in Spanish and perhaps to become a teacher.
“I think when I graduate I’d like to live there (in Nashville),” she said. “I have a passion for Spanish.”
Goodman also has a passion for lacrosse and believes her Owls will be much-improved form last year.
“We were so close in so many games last year,” she said. “This year I think we can come out on top.
“We have so many new freshmen who look promising and so many strong sophomores up from JV. I’m really optimistic. We had our second practice today and we are bonding so much. I can’t wait until the games get started.”
