Gwynedd-Mercy will play in the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship game on Saturday after defeating Marywood, 17-11, in a semifinal matchup on Wednesday.

The top-seeded Griffins (12-4) will take on the second seed, Cabrini, who were 25-12 winners over Neumann in the other semifinal, at Gwynedd at 1 p.m.

Sophomore Colleen Dellostretto (Upper Moreland) helped lead the offense, scoring seven goals and assisting on two others. Freshman Shannon Carabba (Springfield-Montco) added five tallies and an assist as Gwynedd built a 6-1 lead in the first half and led 10-4 at the break.

Taylor McKeown led the fourth-seeded Pacers (7-9) with four goals. Teammate Allie Sodl added three scores.

The Griffins kept Marywood goalie Katie Sullivan busy, firing off 45 shots. Sullivan registered 22 saves. GM keeper Trisha Timony saw 36 shots, and recorded 17 stops.

It will be the first time Gwynedd will play in the conference title game.

Cabrini 25, Neumann 12

Kellie Levy pumped in six goals while Jaime O’Hanlon (Springfield-Delco) had five goals and six assists and Erin Nollen (Henderson) had five goals and two assists as the second-seeded Cavaliers (12-4) advanced to the CSAC title game.

Colleen Finnegan scored four goals for Neumann. Amanda Alexandrowicz (Ridley) added a hat trick for Cabrini.

Temple 15, Lafayette 5

Kelsey Zenuk (Aston, St, Mark’s, DE) began the game with a hat trick and finished with a game-high four goals and one assist to lead the Owls (4-12) to a win over the Leopards (2-15) in the 2009 season finale.  The Owls sent off seniors Brittney Hoffman, Lauren Carey and Andrea DeSabato on a winning note, who led Temple to three Atlantic 10 Tournaments in their four seasons on North Broad.

Hoffman had three goals, while freshman Karly Cohen had two goals and a game-high three assists.  Ann Stouffer contributed one goal and two assists and Lindsey Colferai had one goal and one assist.  Andrea DeSabato (Friends’ Central), Nicholle St. Pierre (Owen J. Roberts), Alison Incarnato and Keelin Hood (Great Valley) all chipped in with one tally and Jen Homka (Garnet Valley), Jackie Mercer and Missy Schweitzer (Owen J. Roberts) dished one assist a piece.

Lafayette actually outshot Temple 32-24 but the Owls were able to keep a considerable lead thanks to outstanding goalie play by Jessica Colucci and Katie Phillips.  Colucci and Phillips split time in goal with Colucci stopping 10 shots and Phillips earning a career-high seven saves.
