From Press Releases

Sun Valley midfielder Krrissy Finn (Aston) heads the list of three players that signed National Letters of Intent for the Saint Francis women’s lacrosse team, announced head coach Steph Marcon last week. Finn is joined by Rachel Larson (Corning, N.Y./Corning East) and Nicole White (Pine, Colo./Conifer) for the Red Flash for the 2010-2011 season.

“I am very excited to welcome these three young women to the Red Flash women’s lacrosse family,” said head coach Steph Marcon.  “They all have excellent lacrosse and academic backgrounds and I expect them to make an immediate impact on and off the field. “

Finn, a 5’8 midfielder, was a Del-Val League first-team honoree as a sophomore and an Academic All-American as a junior. Known for great possession on the attack, she led the Vanguards to a tie for the Del-Val League Championship in 2008.  She was the team leader in groundballs and draw controls as a junior when she was named All-Ches-Mont League Third Team. Finn was also a letterwinner in field hockey, cross country and indoor track & field. A member of the National Honor Society, she will enroll in the school’s Psychology program.

“Krissy Finn is a hard worker in the midfield and she goes after every loose ball as if her name was on it,” said Marcon. “She also has experience taking the draw and she will be a viable option for us. She is a very smart player who will help with the execution of our transition.”

Larson, who could see time at both midfield and attack, led the Corning East Trojans to the New York State Section IV Class C Championship as both a sophomore and a junior.  The 5’7 Larson also competed in the U.S. Lacrosse National Tournament for New York State Adirondack/Upstate team and is noted as solid defender who is quick to recognize open teammates. A letterwinner in cross-country and indoor track as well as lacrosse, she received the Hands of Christ Award and is a member of the National Honor Society.  Larson will join SFU’s Physical Therapy program.

White is a 5’5 center/midfielder out of Conifer High School in Pine, Colorado.  She was twice named First Team All-Conference and was the MVP for Jefferson County after leading the county in scoring for two consecutive seasons.  In 2008, White scored 63 goals for the Lobos and fared even better in 2009, notching 72 as a junior.  Another option for SFU in the circle, White is sure to bring a scoring touch to the Red Flash offense.  A member of the Lobos’ cross country and basketball teams, White also excels in the classroom and is a member of National Honor Society and an honor roll student.

The Red Flash will open the 2010 season on February 19 when they host Niagara in a 3:00 p.m. match up at DeGol Field.
