Radnor holds onto top spot in Phillylacrosse.com Rankings

The first week of action saw several Top 10 teams getting knocked off. The second Phillylacrosse.com Girls Rankings for 2009:

1. Radnor (1-0) – The Red Raiders warmed up for their early Central League showdown at Springfield-Delco today by downing a solid Unionville team, 13-7, on Wednesday.

2. Strath Haven (2-0) – The Panthers were tested by Downingtown East Tuesday in a 14-10 victory. They open their Central League season Friday at home against Penncrest.

3. Episcopal Academy (4-0) – EA has yet to be tested and opens its Inter-Ac league season Wednesday at Springside School.

4. Archbishop Carroll (0-0) – The Vikings open Saturday at Pioneer Athletic Conference power Boyertown.

5. Abington (2-0) – The Ghosts opened their Suburban One National Conference season Wednesday by downing Council Rock South, 12-6. They host Archbishop Wood today.

6. Notre Dame Academy (4-0) – The Fighting Irish, who made their mark by downing Springfield-Delco last week, open Inter-Ac League play Wednesday at Baldwin School.

7. Merion Mercy (2-0) – The Bears won the first battle against Catholic Academies Association rival Villa Maria Academy, 15-13. They have a big game Tuesday at Downingtown East.

8. Springfield-Delco (1-1) – The Cougars got back on track with a 14-8 win over Henderson. They host No. 1 Radnor today.

9. Villa Maria Academy (1-1) – The Hurricanes look to rebound from the loss to Merion Mercy Saturday in a Catholic Academies game at Mount St. Joseph.

10. Bayard Rustin (1-0) – The Golden Knights opened their season with a 12-5 win over Penncrest Tuesday and host Downingtown West tonight.

Teams to watch: (in alphabetic order) Archbishop Wood, Baldwin School, Boyertown, Conestoga, Council Rock North, Downingtown East, Downingtown West, Germantown Academy, Great Valley, Henderson, North Penn, Unionville.
