Becker College (Mass.) sophomore midfielder Tammy Mullen (Pottstown) has established an NCAA Division III record for goals in a season with 115.

Mullen set the record April 20 for Becker in a 17-14 win over host Pine Manor, to eclipse the 15-year-old mark set by Swarthmore College’s Julie Moyes (107 goals).

Mullen, who came into the game with 106 goals, finished the day with eight scores and then closed her season with one goal in a 26-10 loss to Bridgewater State.

Mullen has played in all 17 of Becker’s games this season. Noyes’ record was set in 16 games during the 1994 season.

The record-tying goal came less than two minutes into the game, and Mullen broke the record about six minutes later. Her last three goals of the night proved to be game-winners as she put Becker ahead for good, 16-13.

Mullen’s most productive stretch of games this season began March 31 when she scored 38 goals in four games over a 10-day period. She followed that up by scoring 15 of Becker’s 23 goals against Anna Marie April 14.

The two-year-old Becker lacrosse program finished 8-9 overall after going 2-10 last year when Mullen tallied 51 goals.
