The Philadelphia Lacrosse Association (PLA) has partnered with the Positive Coaching Alliance and U.S. Lacrosse to host two Positive Coaching Alliance Workshops for male and female coaches at all levels.
The workshops, being held Feb. 5 and Feb. 11, are free and open to all current U.S. Lacrosse members and their guests.
The schedule is as follows:
Thursday, February 5th: “The Second Goal Parent-Developing Winners in Life Through Sports” at LehighUniversity from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The workshop will be held in room 416 of the Asa Packer Lab Buildingon the main part of campus. Please park in the parking garage next to the Alumni Memorial Building.
This interactive workshop explores the role of a Second-Goal parent, supporting their child so that he or she has a fun, positive experience in sports.
Topics discussed include:
1. How parents can help ensure their student-athletes’ experience yield healthy, developmental (physical, social, mental) outcomes that will serve them far beyond the playing field
2. Guidelines for developing a positive Coach/Parent relationship
3. Understanding the research-based three stages of Talent Development
4. Engaging children in constructive, meaningful conversations
5. Insight into the coach training and what it means to be a Double-Goal Coach
Wednesday, February 11th: “Double-Goal Coach®: Coaching for Winning and Life Lessons” at La SalleCollege High School from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
This interactive workshop introduces PCA’s Double-Goal Coach model and provides an in-depth review of the three principles around which it is built:
1. Honor the Game
2. Fill Emotional Tanks
3. Redefine “Winner”
Supporting research is presented from experts in coaching, education and sports psychology. Every participant gains access to dozens of practical, proven tools to increase success during their next practice or competition.
