Phillylacrosse.com Girls’ Rankings: District 1 tourney heats up

     The District 1 tournament continues to heat up today as teams embark on second-round games. This week’s Phillylacrosse.com Girls’ Rankings:

    1. Radnor (18-0) – The Red Raiders coasted past Interboro, 25-1, in the first round of districts and Great Valley today in the second round. Last Week: No. 1.

    2. Springfield-Delco (17-2) – The Cougars looked strong in their 14-2 opening-game win over Owen J. Roberts and host Merion Mercy today. Last Week: No. 2.

    3. North Penn (18-0) – The Maidens cruised past Garnet Valley, 17-3, Tuesday and host Villa Maria today. Last Week: No. 6.

    4. Strath Haven (15-3) – The Panthers routed Council Rock South, 17-5, in the first round and host Central League rival Ridley today. Last Week: No. 4.

    5. Unionville (16-2) – The Indians opened with a 10-3 triumph over Council Rock North and host Conestoga today in the second round. Last Week: No. 5.

    6. Bayard Rustin (16-2) – The Golden Knights defeated Springfield-Montco, 16-11, in the first round of districts and host Downingtown West today. Last Week: No. 7.

    7. Notre Dame (13-3) – The Fighting Irish won what may have been one of the best games of the year Tuesday when they took a thrilling, 13-12 overtime victory over Episcopal Academy, preventing EA from clinching a tie for the title. ND and Baldwin are a loss behind EA in the standings; Notre Dame hosts Germantown Academy today. Last week: No. 9.

    8. Episcopal Academy (16-5) – The Churchwomen lost a heartbreaker to Notre Dame and must rebound today against Agnes Irwin to clinch at least a tie for the Inter-Ac crown. Last Week: No. 8.

    9. Boyertown (17-1-1) – The Bears handled Pennridge, 13-5, in their playoff opener and host Upper Dublin in an intriguing matchup today. Last week: No. 10.

    10. Upper Dublin (16-2) – The Cardinals looked strong in downing Harriton, 16-7, in the first round. They play at Boyertown today. Last week: NR.

    Teams to watch: (in alphabetic order): Abington, Archbishop Carroll, Archbishop Wood, Baldwin School, Conestoga, Downingtown East, Downingtown West, Great Valley, Merion Mercy, Ridley, Villa Maria Academy.
