Philadelphia graduates are keys to Top 20 teams in Division III

    Phillylacrosse.com presents its rundown of Philly men playing on Division III teams in this week’s USILA Top 20.

    1. Salisbury – Sophomore defender Nick Mooney (Interboro) and freshman attacker Kyle Quist (Central Bucks East) are playing key reserve roles for the three-time defending champion Sea Gulls. Sophomore Tim Swinburn (Strath Haven) is the second-string goalie and other reserves are sophomore defender Jeff Hoffman (Perkiomen Valley), freshman middie Craig Burnett (Germantown Academy), freshman defender Bryan Dacey (Central Bucks West)

    2. Gettysburg – Senior midfielder Tom O’Donnell (La Salle) was an Honorable Mention All-American last year who had 21 goals and 21 assists last year.         

    3. Cortland – none.

    4. Middlebury – none.               

    5. Cabrini – See today’s Philadelphia Division III preview. 

    6.  Washington College – Reserves include sophomore Bhelly Bagbonon (Conestoga, attack) and freshmen Jack Vermeil (Henderson, defense), Dave Lundquist (Henderson, attack) and Morgan Braendel (Owen J. Roberts, attack).   

    7. Ithaca – Sophomore face-off specialist Michael Hennessy (Owen J. Roberts) had a standout freshman year, winning 58 percent (214 of 369) of his draws. Reserves include senior middie Mike Giunta (Henderson, 7 goals last year), sophomore defender Matt Molnar (Central Bucks East), and freshman Tim Palmer (West Chester East).                 .        

   8. Stevenson (Villa Julie) –   The Mustangs have a bevy of Philly grads. Sophomores Drew Brady (Penncrest, attack) and Ian Hart (Ridley, defense) will see regular time in reserve. Others vying for time are Jon O’Donnell (Great Valley, midfield), sophomore Ryan Bragg (Downingtown West, midfield), and freshmen Jared Siravo (Conestoga, defense), Dan O’Donnell (Great Valley, defense) and Brendan Stouber (Avon Grove, defense).

    9. Roanoke  – Sophomore defender Collin Jefferson (Kenett) and  sophomore middie Tyler Rinko (Upper Dublin) are reserves.                

   10. Lynchburg – Freshman Dylan Hoff (Downingtown East) is already a mainstay at attack; he had a goal and two assists in Saturday’s 18-6 loss to No. 1 Salisbury. Also, freshmen defenders Ben Wright (Central Bucks East) and Robert Day (Lansdale Catholic, defense) and freshman midfielder Drew Johnson (Strath Haven) are vying for time.       

    11. Endicott – none.

    12.  Haverford  – See today’s Philadelphia Division III preview.

    13. St. Lawrence – none.

    14.  Wesleyan – Junior attacker David Layne (Penn Charter), sophomore attacker Tim Dodds (Great Valley) and junior middie Ramanan Sivalingam (Philadelphia, Hotchkiss School, Ct.) are reserves.

    15. Stevens – none.

    16. Denison – Senior middie Dan Maude (Haverford School)  had 32 goals and 17 assists last year while earning Honorable Mention All-American. Maude had two goals and four assists Monday in Denison’s 22-1 rout of Trine University in its seaosn opener. 

    17. Williams College – Freshman Sam Hargrove (Strath Haven) is a reserve attacker.                     

    18. Western New England – Sophomore midfielder Sean Johnston (Central Bucks East) is a reserve.                 

    19.  Geneseo – none.

    20. Springfield – none.
