Penncrest senior center Mary Kate Mangianello has signed a letter of intent to play next year at Quinnipiac University.
Mangianello, a second-team All-Central League pick last year, was attracted to the business and public relations programs at the university located in Hamden, Conn.
“When I started looking through colleges, I was looking for a school with a campus that I’d like,” she said. “It was not too big and not too small and I really liked the campus and the people there. I also kind of wanted to get away from home.
“I am going to be majoring in business and public relations and their programs in both are very good. I never wanted to sit in a cubicle. In PR, you are always with people. I think I would like that.”
Manganiello, who will join North Penn defender Dianna Milano at Quinnipiac, has an impressive academic resume. She is on the school’s Honor Roll and this year earned a Student-Athlete award for academics and sports based on her efforts as a junior.
On the field, Manganiello is confident the Lions will have a winning season. Penncrest is currently 2-2 with its losses coming to state-ranked Bayard Rustin and Strath Haven.
“I think we have a lot of really talented girls,” she said. “We are getting in the swing of things and I think we can have a really good season. There is a lot of potential here.”
