Penn Charter senior defender Mike Rauchut has signed a letter of intent to play next year at Bryant University where he will join his older brother Joe.
Joe Rauchut is a starting sophomore defender for Bryant, which is currently 3-2 in its first season of Division I play under former Duke coach Mike Preessler.
“I knew Bryant was looking at me with my brother up there and I just loved the school,” Rauchut said. “He (Joe) was the one talking to them about me. As soon as I met coach Pressler I knew I wanted to go there.”
Rauchut, who is considering business as a major, also is excited about the coming Inter-Ac League season. Last year’s Quakers reached the Eastern Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association semifinals, but the team suffered heavy graduation. Once again, the Inter-Ac will be most competitive, with teams such as defending champion Malvern Prep and Haverford School loaded with talent.
“Our team (graduated) nine seniors that were starting, so we lost a lot,” said Rauchut, “Bu our young layers have a lot of potential. They are hard workers and I think we should be able to compete. I am curious and excited at the same time.”
“We’re running some hard practices and if we keep them up we should be able to beat some of those tough teams.”
