Haverford School senior midfielder/face-off specialist Wills Miller has signed a letter of intent to play next year at Bucknell University.

Miller said he chose Bucknell based on the team’s positive attitude and the picturesque Lewisburg campus.

“The first time I went to Bucknell for an official visit I found the team was really close

and I liked that a lot,” he said. “They did everything together; they were always hanging out.

“And the campus is beautiful. Obviously, it’s a good academic school and it has a good lacrosse team. I liked the coach (Frank Fedorjaka). It all just fit.”

Miller said he expects to major in economics. On the field, he will take face-offs and play some middie.

“I was initially recruited as a face-off guy, but I went to a tournament and they saw me play and liked how I was playing at middie,” he said. “Coach Fedorjaka said I would take face-offs and play some middie as well.”

For now, Miller will gladly take face-offs for a team expected to contend with defending champion Malvern Prep for the Inter-Ac League championship and make some noise with a schedule that includes many national powers. The Fords dropped their opener Saturday at Maryland power St. Paul, 13-12, in overtime.

“I’m definitely very excited,” he said. “We have a strong underclassmen group and also a lot of good returning seniors

“We have a tough schedule, but I think we’ll do well. We want to make a point that even though we can’t play for a state championship any more; we are competing for national dominance. Every game has more meaning.”
