The following male student-athletes are being honored this week by Phillylacrosse.com for their academics, service and leadership as well as contributions on the field.
Peter Bowers, Conestoga, junior midfielder
Off the field: He has a GPA is 4.7, and is currently carrying three AP level courses, with all remaining courses are at the honors level. He is a member of the National Honor Society and is active in Young Life. He also volunteers at his church.
On the field: This is his second year as a middie on the varsity. He scored one of the goals in the 6-3 upset win over nationally-ranked La Salle in yesterday’s game.
Shawn Caven, Pennsbury, junior midfielder
Off the field: He carries a 4.02 GPA and is in all Honors classes. He is active in his community through his church and at school by participating in the drama program. He has had a lead role in the musical every year.
On the field: He has been on the varsity squad since his freshman year, always a starter.
On the field: He is a dominant face-off man and a middie that can play both ends of the field. Against PW this year he was 18-for-23 on face-offs against a Division I recruit. He also scored two goals and dished out four assists in the game.
Ryan Flynn, Archbishop Caroll, sophomore attacker
Off the field: He is in all honors classes and one AP class. He is a member of the community service corp at school, is a volunteer coach for a 5/6 grade team for our local youth organization, has volunteered at Carroll lacrosse camp, and has volunteered for play days for soccer and lacrosse for the Special Olympics. Is near the top 10 percent in his class.
On the field: He started as a 9th grader last year, and finished with 22 goals and 25 assists. In his first two games this year he had eight goals and five assists.
