From Press Releases
La Salle lacrosse head coach Candace Taglianetti recently announced that six high school recruits have signed National Letters of Intent for the early signing period and will join the lacrosse program in the fall of 2010.
“The coaching staff is extremely excited about the group of young women who have made a commitment to La Salle University and we feel their impact will be seen on and off the field as student-athletes,” said Taglianetti, a Haverford High graduate.
The class of 2014 comprises of four Philly products, including a pair of teammates from North Penn, a Maryland resident and a New York native.
Kaitlin Colbridge (Lansdale, PA) is one of two recruits from North Penn who will join the Explorers next season. Colbridge is a quick defender and a force in the defensive transition. The two-sport athlete, who also played field hockey at North Penn, will reunite with sophomores Sara Ciaverelli and Allison Herman along with freshman Lauren McDermott. Colbridge was also a member of the honor roll at North Penn.
The other North Penn recruit, Dani Horn (Colmar, PA), will join Colbridge. Horn will play a significant role on the draw circle for the Explorers next season. The All-Suburban One Conference selection also plays for the Ultimate Goal Lacrosse elite club.
Kelly Collins (Broomall, PA) garnered much success as a member of the Marple Newtown lacrosse team. Collins, who joins former high school teammates Jackie Roebuck and Melanie Sarcinello, has been awarded with Academic All-American, All-Central League and All-Delaware County honors. Collins’ success carried over to the soccer field as she was tabbed as the team’s Most Valuable Player. The Lenape Premier Club member excels in the midfield and has a knack for getting the groundballs.
Garnet Valley’s Allie Henry will be looked upon to contribute early for the Explorers on the offensive end. Henry, who has been tagged as a proficient attacker and strong finisher, is an All-Central League selection (twice), Offensive MVP and All-Delaware County Honorable Mention. Henry plays for the Lenape Premier club team.
Katie Marasco (Yorktown Heights, NY) will join the Explorers after making a strong contribution to the Somers High School lacrosse program. As a junior, she was awarded with All-Section I, All-Central League and All-Elite honors. Marasco, who totaled 67 goals and 14 assists at Somers, is a member of the honor roll and the Westchester Elite Lacrosse Club. Marasco will carry on her family’s legacy following her brother, Matt, who plays lacrosse at West Point and her other brother, Joe, who plays at Syracuse.
Maggie O’Ferrall (Catonsville, MD) is a fluid midfielder who brings a natural attacking instinct to La Salle next season. The Mount De Sales standout has recorded 105 goals and 30 assists through three seasons. O’Ferrall’s sister, Lizzie, is currently a goalkeeper at John’s Hopkins University and her father, John, played at Loyola and Delaware.
