Haverford School defenseman/LSM Stocky Euler, who helped the Fords win the Inter-Ac League co-championship, heads the list of recruits that begin this fall at Lafayette College.
Coming off a season that saw the most wins since 2001, the Lafayette men’s lacrosse coach Terry Mangan recently announced his eight-member class of 2013. The class includes four midfielders, three defensemen and a goalie that will make their way to College Hill from four Northeastern states.
“We feel that this is a great group of young men that will add to Lafayette both on the field and on campus,” Mangan said.
The following is a recap of the recruits:
DEFENSE:
Stocky Euler Villanova, Pa./Haverford School
– All-League and All-Phillylacrosse.com Honorable Mention as a junior and senior
– Led team to Inter-Ac League co-championship and playoff championship and awarded the Nostrant Award as a senior
– All League and team-MVP of Haverford’s hockey team
– Also lettered in Haverford’s soccer team
Eric Oplinger Summit, N.J./Pingry
– Named to All-Division and All-Somerset County team as a senior
– Started on Pingry’s nationally ranked soccer team, helping them to an undefeated season and state championship
– Also played on Pingry’s basketball team
Geoff Stearns Waccabuc, N.Y./John Jay
– Member of the All-League and All-Section teams as a senior – New York State Scholar Athlete recipient – Played on John Jay’s football team
MIDFIELD:
John Bolton Darien, Conn./Darien
– All American, All State and All FCIAC his senior year
– Team MVP his senior year at Darien
– Lacrosse team won state championship all four years
– Named to all-FCIAC in winter track as a junior and senior
Greg Rau Fair Lawn, N.J./Fair Lawn
– All-Division, All-County and honorable mention All-State as a senior
– Second-Team All-State as a junior
– Also Member of the Fair Lawn football squad
Brendan Fahey Blairstown, N.J./Blair Academy
– Missed all but three games his senior year due to injury
– All-Conference as a junior and senior
– Member of the Blair Academy basketball squad
Anthony Zawadzki Kings Park, N.Y./St. Anthony’s – All-Catholic League and faceoff Midfielder of the Year
– Played football at St. Anthony’s, participated in the Catholic League Senior Bowl
GOALIE:
Ed Stubits Mullica Hill, N.J./Clearview Regional
– Team MVP and All State goalkeeper as a senior at Clearview
– Three-time all-south Jersey and all-conference
– Four-time all-county and all-conference as a member of the swimming team, named to the all-South Jersey squad three times.
