Hatboro-Horsham senior attackman Jarrett Carr has signed a letter on intent to play next year at St. John’s University.
Carr, a second-team All-Suburban One Continental Conference picks last year said the coaching staff and campus at Queens were the biggest draws.
“I immediately liked the coaches and that was big thing for me,” Carr said. “I also liked the campus. They are doing some new construction and by the time I am a freshman it should be all completed.”
Carr, who plans to major in business, said he wanted to leave the Philadelphia area.
“My brother lives in Manhattan, and I wanted to go to a school somewhere different,” he said. “I live on a farm. My brother loves it in the city and I think this will be great for me.”
Carr, who amassed had 26 goals and 54 last year, is confident the Hatters can contend with the likes of defending champion Central Bucks East for the Continental Conference title. Hatboro-Horsham went 18-3 overall last year, but fell one game short of the crown.
“I think this season our team chemistry is good,” Carr said. “The whole team is working really hard and it seems everyone really wants it more than in previous years.
“The offense looks great. We have all the talent we need to be a great team. We have to work hard to prepare for each game. No doubt about, we have the potential; we just have t make the most of the season.”
