From Press Releases
Penn State Abington’s Athletics Director Karen Weaver announced that Jody Field has been named the school’s new head women’s lacrosse coach.
Field comes to the program after serving as an official for both field hockey and lacrosse for the past 20 years in the Philadelphia area. She has also coached at Springfield-Montco High School and Chestnut Hill College.
“It is an honor to be named the new head women’s lacrosse coach at Penn State Abington,” said Field. “Being a part of Penn State University again is real exciting for me. Playing for Penn State and now coaching is something that I have wanted to do for a long time.”
Field was a member of the Penn State University National Championship teams for field hockey in 1978 as well as in 1979 where she also was named the MVP and captain.
Athletic Director Karen Weaver said of the hiring, “Jody Field brings a wealth of experience as a player, coach and umpire. As a captain of Penn State teams that captured two national championships, she has the right blend of competitiveness and teaching expertise that we need for our program right now.”
Field comes to Penn State Abington with a wealth of knowledge of the game of lacrosse. She is a member of both the United States Women’s Lacrosse Association (USWLA) and the Pennsylvania Women’s Lacrosse Association (PAWLA). She also was president of the PAWLA where she organized club leagues and hosted the Lacrosse National Tournament in Philadelphia. Field has also run Five-Star Lacrosse camps as well as played and managed club lacrosse teams.
