The following female student-athletes are being honored this week by Phillylacrosse.com for their academics, service and leadership as well as contributions on the field.
Amalia Antonoplos, Radnor, junior attacker
Off the field: She has a 4.0 GPA volunteers for rec league, is in the tutoring academy for the middle school kids, participates on Service Board, is in the Radnor Ambassadors program, and did the Buddy Walk for Down Syndrome. She also does fundraising for Down Syndrome and the Katie Samson Foundation.
On the field: Will be contributor to team that went undefeated last year.
Betsy Hurtado, Harriton sophomore midfielder
Off the field: She has a 4.8 GPA, takes all Honors classes, is on Student Council and participates in the Harriton Service League. She was chosen for the HOBY (Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership) Conference this year. One sophomore is chosen from each school for eligibility around the country.
On the field: She had six goals and seven assists in first three games (all wins). Is also a varsity basketball starter.
Carolyn Smith, Jenkintowm, junior midfielder
Off the field: She is a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Honor Society, has a GPA well over 3.5 and takes Honors and AP classes. She has raised $1,400 for the Ronald McDonald House.
On the field: Had nine goals and three assists to help Drakes win first two games. Also an all-league basketball player.
