Mt. Carmel (CA) senior middie David Darling has committed to play NCAA Division III lacrosse at Eastern University.
Darling said he also considered Salisbury and Lynchburg but picked the St. Davids, Pa.-based school because of the way the coaching staff pursued him.
“The communication between the coach and his recruits was excellent,” Darling said. “I fell in love with the team. Some of the other teams that sent me recruiting packages, the communication wasn’t as good. He’s the only one who got me out there. I had an overnight visit, and that pretty much sold me.”
Darling said he’s looking forward to making the transition to the college game from the Southern California scholastic scene.
“I think it’s going to be faster,” he said. “I’m just going to work harder in the weight room, keep up with my agility training, and I think I’ll do fine.”
Darling is the second senior from the west to choose Eastern in the last week. Recently, Westwood (TX) senior defenseman Ryan Cassidy committed to Eastern.
