The three-time defending champion Duke’s Lacrosse Club remained undefeated and advanced to the semifinals today at Champ Camp 20.
Champ Camp, one of the summer’s biggest boys’ lacrosse club tournaments, is being played at several sites in the Baltimore area.
The Duke’s (7-0), who won pool play in Group A, defeated Smithtown 1, 8-2, in its quarterfinal playoff game. It topped fellow Philly club team Twist Blue, 10-5, in the first round. Twist Blue (4-2) was the Group B winner.
Team HEADstrong suffered a heartbreaking, 6-5 loss to NESLL 1, in the quarterfinals. HEADstrong, which won pool play in Group G with a 5-0 mark, is 6-1 overall. HEADstrong opened playoff action by surprising Canada’s Edge Senior Elite, 7-4.
Twist Black, which won pool play in Group D, fell to Team Carolina, 9-6, in the second round of championship play. Twist Black (5-2) opened playoff action with a 9-1 victory over Tri-State Black.
Duke’s 2, the Group EE champion, fell to Belax, 9-8, in the quarterfinals. Duke’s 2 (5-2 overall) opened its playoff run with a 10-4 rout of the SoCal Surf Dogs, 10-4.
Also in consolation play, Twist Blue fell to Pittsburgh A.C.E.S., 8-7 in overtime.
Sunday morning (7:30) in semifinal action, the Duke’s will play Team Carolina at Johns Hopkins. Belax meets NESLL 1 in the other semifinal matchups. The winners play for the crown at 11:30 a.m.
