Defending A-10 champion Temple women open today against Rutgers

    The defending Atlantic 10 champion Temple women’s team opens its season today by hosting Rutgers at Geasey Field at 3 p.m.

    Owls coach Bonnie Rosen returns only three seniors from a team that went 13-7 overall and 7-1 in the A-10.

    Senior attacker Brittney Hoffman (25 goals) and junior midfielder Chelsea Rosiek (Wisshaickon; 27 goals, 16 assists) head the offense while sophomore defender Jennifer Homka (Garnet Valley), junior defender Tracy Zimmer (Council Rock North) and junior goalie Jessica Colucci anchor the defense. Other key returnees are senior attacker Andrea DeSabato (Friends’ Central), junior midfielder Alison Incarnato.

    Other reserves from Philly include sophomore attackers Nicholle St. Piere (Owen J. Roberts) and Deanna Balerno (Neshaminy) and freshmen midfielders Allison McWilliams (Avon Grove), Melissa Schweitzer (Owen J. Roberts) and Kelsey Zenuk (Aston, St. Mark’s, Del.), freshmen defenders Keelin Hood (Great Valley) and Lauren Caminiti (North Penn) and freshmen attacker Lauren Fisher (Ridley).
