The No. 15 Cabrini men’s lacrosse team opened its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) slate Wednesday with a comfortable 18-3 win over Gwynedd-Mercy College.
The win is the Cavaliers 66th straight against a conference opponent in the regular season dating back to the 2001 season.
Junior attackman Casey Grugan (Ridley) powered the Cabrini offense with eight points on five goals and three assists, extending the nation’s second-longest consecutive points streak to 46 games. Grugan has totaled at least eight points on three occasions this season.
Senior midfielder Matt Conaway (West Chester East) recorded four points on three scores and one assist. Freshman attack Brian Hill (Ridley) added three goals and senior attackman Scott Reimer (Downingtown West) had two goals and an assist.
Haverford College 8, Muhlenberg 7, OT
Travis Gregory (three goals, three assists) scored the game-winner in OT and Max Hjelm (Conestoga) added three goals for the 14th-ranked Black Squirrels (6-2, 2-0) in their Centennial Conference nail-biter
Swarthmore 8, Franklin & Marshall 6
Will Predun, David DeSimone and Tyler Bradshaw each scored twice for the Garnet (3-3, 2-1) in their Centennial Conference win.
Moravian 15, Immaculata 7
Zach Krytzer (Roman Catholic), Joe Keller (Owen J. Roberts) and Jim Baranello (Haverford High) each scored two goals and Andrew Sim (Interboro) made 15 saves, but the Mighty Macs (1-5) fell.
Messiah 12, Widener 10
Johnny Casey (Abington) scored five goals for Widener (2-5, 1-1) in its Middle Atlantic Conference loss.
Washington College 7, Ursinus 5
Derrin Mangin (Archbishop Wood) had four caused turnovers and four groundballs and Tony Aquilino (Archbishop Wood) had 15 saves as the host Bears (3-4) nearly knocked off eighth-ranked Washington College (8-1) in the Centennial Conference.
FDI-Florham 6, Eastern 5
Ben O’Donnell had two goals for Eastern (3-4, 1-2) in its MAC loss.
Susquehanna 16, Penn State Abington 4
Nathan Meyer (Abington) scored twice for PSU (0-7).
Division I
Georgetown 9, Harvard 8, OT
Todd Cochran (Conestoga) scored once for the winning Hoyas (3-4) in their win over No. 11 Harvard.
Notre Dame 11, Bellarmine 6
Duncan Swezey (Hatboro-Horsham) notched four goals for the No. 3 Fighting Irish (7-0).
Women
Drexel 13, Bucknell 8
Charlotte Wood (Conestoga) scored five goals while Danielle Iacono came off the bench to record two goals and two assists as the Dragons moved to 7-1 on the season. Drexel has now won five games in a row with the team’s only defeat coming at No. 5 Penn.
Princeton 13, Temple 4
Defender Marie McKenna (Penn Charter) had a goal, two caused turnovers and two groundballs to lead No. 7 Princeton (6-1). Brittney Hoffman scored twice for the Owls (0-7).
Old Dominion 10, Longwood 8
Ashley Kellogg (Downingtown West) erupted for six goals and had an assist to lead ODU (5-1). Lisa Bernardini (George School) added a goal and an assist and Sarah Geary (Springfield-Delco) had 13 saves in goal
George Mason 18, American 8
Emily Ellisen (Great Valley) and Megan Udovich (Ridley) each notched two goals for GM (4-4). Amanda Makoid (Archbishop Wood) scored four for American (1-8).
Division III
Cabrini 19, Marywood 8
Amanda Alexandrowicz (Ridley) notched four goals for the Cavaliers (4-2, 3-0) in their Colonial States Athletic Conference win.
Messiah 19, Arcadia 9
Stephanie Holguin had four goals and Shannon Bustin (Interboro) added three for the Knights (2-3, 1-3) in their MAC loss.
Manhattanville 19, Widener 17
Jackie Elliott (Upper Darby) had seven goals and two assists for the Price (3-5, 0-3) in their MAC loss.
Neumann 16, Immaculata 11
Gabby D’Ambrosio erupted for eight goals for Neumann (2-6, 1-1) in the CSAC triumph. Rebecca Whiteman (Great Valley) had five goals for Immaculata (0-6, 0-2)
