Boys’ wrap: Malvern Prep tops Haverford School; Springfield-Delco rolls over Radnor, 9-4

Conor Steidle scored three goals while Ryan Creighton added two to pace Malvern Prep to an 8-5 victory over Haverford School today in boys’ Inter-Ac League action.

Harte Thompson also scored once for the Friars (3-3, 2-0) and Drew Kennedy was strong at the face-off X.

Haverford (6-4, 0-1) got goals from Will Horrocks, Stephen Aitken, Chris Hupfeldt, Brendan McGrath and Sam Rohr.

Episcopal Academy 9, Penn Charter 6

John Gormley fired in three goals while Cody Isdander and Andrew Gordon had two each for the Chuchmen (6-2, 1-1) in their Inter-Ac win. Joey Sankey scored four times for the Quakers.

Springfield-Delco 9, Radnor 4

The Cougars (7-0, 3-0) remained undefeated with the key win over the Red Raiders (4-2, 2-1) in the Central League. John Cugini, larry McLaughlin Joe Venit and Josh Cavanaugh each tallied two goals for Springfield, ranked third in the state in the Lacrosse Media Rankings. Colin Keegan scored once.

The Cougars won despite missing two starters, attackman Jordan Demcher (separated shoulder) and defender Tyler Canada (sick). McLaughlin filled in nicely for Demcher and Scott Parke did a yeoman job for Canada on defense with Matt Maccario, Brendan Nave and Joe Addona. Austin Kaut made five saves, severl of them huge early on.

Also for Springfield-Delco, Billy McCullough battled Radnor face-off standout Cole Yeager at the X helping get several fastbreak opportunities. Joe Devinney, a first-year player, played well at defeinsve midfield. Matt Cherry  led Radnor (4-2, 2-1), ranked seventh in the PA rankings, with a gal and an assist while Jeff Puckette and John Dougherty both scored once. Yeager also had a goal and took 13 of 17 face-offs.

The Cougars travel to new York Saturday to face 2-0 Comsewogue, which Tuesday defeated the No. 10 team in the country by Inside Lacrosse, Manhasset, 11-10, in overtime.

Marple Newtown 8, Upper Darby 4

Chris Scott collected five goals and two assists and John McKeighan added two scores for the Tigers (5-3, 1-2) in their Central League win. Dave Smith had 10 saves. Kevin Fonio led the Royals with a pair of goals.

St. Joseph’s Prep 8, Ridley 2

The Hawks, ranked No. 5 in the Media Rankings, remained perfect at 3-0 as Kenny Lankford had two goals and and two assists, Ian Correia had two goals, Brendan Glynn had one goal and two assists and Cory Schuerle, Colin Fleming and Bill Bole each scored once. Mike Zikoski saved six of eight shots and  Joe Ventresca won six of eight faceoffs.

Downingtown East 10, Henderson 6

Taylor Nelson, Kyle Marks, and Eric Swartz scored two goals each as the visiting Cougars in Ches-Mont League boys’ lacrosse.

Rocco Piliero, Jeff Zelinski and Tyler Kroft had a goal each while Shane Sturgis had three assists and Mason Poli added two assists for the Cougars (6-1, 3-0). Ethan Heisman led the Warriors (5-3, 2-1) with three goals and an assist.

Emmaus 8, Garnet Valley 7, OT

Tate Klidonas took an assist from Alex Kuehner and sent it into overtime with 1:22 to play and then Klidonas won it in OT after winning the face-off and putting in his own rebound 45 seconds into the extra frame to lift the Green Hornets. Mic Debellis had two goals and two assists for Emmaus (5-2) while Dan Kinek and Klidonas each added a pair of goals. Will Scott and Kuehner each scored once and Dan Zagnoli posted 10 saves.

Junior Eric Warden, who recently commitetd to Fairfield, had four goals and three assists, for the Jaguars. Ricky Lehman, Steve Selveran and Mike Montella scored once each and John Kelly posted 11 saves. Garnet Valley led, 3-0 early on and had taken a 7-6 edge when Warden scored with 1:50 to play.

Neshaminy 11  CR South 4
Alex Forman had one goal and five assists, Jason Thibedeau scored three goals and Andy MacPherson and Chris Brady each had two as the Redskins improved to 4-3 (1-1 in Suburban One National). Tristan Emig and Ryan Mawhinny helped anchor a string defense. Brian Bollinger had 2 goals for the Hawks.

CB East 14 Souderton 0

Adam Bitzer scored two goals to lead a balanced attack as CB East claimed the Suburban One Continental Conference win. Grant Nice had 14 saves for Souderton. (1-5, 0-4).

Upper Dublin 14, Upper Moreland 0

Eric Breuninger scored four goals and Jimmy Trentini added two goals and two assists for the Cards in their Suburban One American Conference shutout. Nick DeBalko made 14 saves in a losing effort.

Kennett 7, Interboro 4

Jamie Froehlich notched four goals and Kyle Kenyon added two to lead the Blue Demons. Rich Rossano had two goals for the losing Bucs while Vince Latham and Jordan Graham had one apiece and goalie Adam Moore was brilliant made 18 saves.

Penncrest 16, Bayard Rustin 3

Danny Jones had four goals and added two assists while Adam Yee and Craig Kashner each scored twice to lead the Lions (4-3) to the non-league win.

Bishop Shanahan 12, North Penn 8

Keegan Lawton and Michael Thompson each had five goals for Shanahan. Dylan Harris topped NP with four goals.

Friends’. Central 9, George. School 6

Chris Callans had four goals for Friends’ Central while Dave Foppert led GS with four tallies.

Conwell-Egan 19, Neumann Goretti 10

C.J. Slakoper led CE with four goals while Collin Taylor, Shane Tiffany, and Tim Becht each had three.

Avon Grove 16, Archbishop Ryan 1

Damien Sobieski and Chris Knapp scored three goals apiece for AG (5-1).

Archbishop Wood 14, Sun Valley 5

Perkiomen School 7, Woodlynde 6

Phelps 12, Collegium Charter 5

Hatboro-Horsham 16, Pennridge 8

La Salle 17, Father Judge 0

Upper Merion 10, Springfield-Montco 5
