Matt Dilks scored the game-winner with one second left and amassed three goals and two assists to lead Lower Merion to a 9-8 victory Friday over Garnet Valley in a boys’ Central League win, spoiling the league debut for the Jaguars.
Scott Benson assisted on the game-winner, scored in a man-up situation. Jack Morrison added two goals for Lower Merion (2-1) while Cody Hornung (six saves) and Hank Altschuler (eight saves) split the goaltending duties.
GV, which led 3-0 at one point, wa sled by Mike Montella (2 goals) and Eric Warden (1 goal, 4 assists).
Strath Haven 8, Penncrest 7
Sean Walsh and Mike Varga each had two goals to pace the Panthers to the Central League win over Penncrest.
Sean McGraw, Mark Dolphin, David Alyanakian (four assists) and Pat Fisher scored a goal each for Strath Haven and Will Torrence made seven saves while Nate Parker and Fletcher Gelber ezcelled at the face-off X.
Mike Belfiglio and Craig Kashner each had two goals for Penncrest and Dan Jones had a goal and three assists. Adam Yee and Dan Kelly also scored.
Springfield 11, Emmaus 7
Josh Cavanaugh poured in five goals as the Cougars remained unbeaten at 3-0 with the non-league win, outscoring the Green Hornets, 5-2 in the final frame. Joe Venit and Colin Keegan each had two goals and Bobby Gildea added a goal and two assists. Jordan Demcher and John Cuguni also scored while Austin Kaut made 14 saves.
For Emmaus, Tate Kildonas had four goals and Alex Kuehner had two while Kyle Krause scored once. Assists were turned in by Will Scott, Mic Debellis, Dan Kinek and Derek Schmidt.
Emmaus led, 7-6, with seven minutes left when Springfield took over.
Sun Valley 13, Great Valley 8
Bobby Clemens collected three goals and five assists while Matt Remner and Donnie Krausse each had three goals for the Vanguards in the Ches-Mont League win. Frankie Jackson and Sam Maldou each added two goals and an assist and Tyler Brun had four saves to gain the win.
Great Valley was led by Campbell Armstrong (3 goals 1 assist), Eric Gartner (2 goals 1 assist), Mike Ravenfeld (1 goal), Gavin Wilson (1g 1a), Dan Buccholz (1 goal). And goalie Mike McClatchy (12 saves).
After a 2-2 first quarter, SV scored 8 in the second, and went into halftime up 10-3
Radnor 8 Archbishop Wood 5
Matt Cherry had three goals and two assists and Rob Norton added two goals and an assist while Jeff Gold contributed two goals for Radnor. Cole Yeager added one tally and won 13 of 16 face-offs while Tyler Andersen, Dan Schmader, Calos Pelaez and goalie Blake Middendorf (six saves) held Wood to one second-half goal. Ben Worthington had 11 saves for Wood.
Wissahickon 8, Plymouth Whitemarsh 7, OT
Garrett Rosiek had three goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lift Wissahickon (2-1, 2-0) to the Suburban One American win. Shane Ziegler had three goals while AJ Simanglatt and Steve Carrozza also scored and Brian Frankenfield had an assist. Sean Smith had 11 saves for the Trojans.
Sean McClernan led PW with four goals and Pat Nolan had two while Joe Hughes and Colin Joka added one apiece.
Upper Moreland 8, Cheltenham 4
Steve Fleming had two goals, three assists and two groundballs, Talon Blickey had two goals, one assist and two groundballs and Ellis Fattizzi added two goals and four grioundballs as the Bears improved to 3-0 (2-0 in Suburban One American). Ryan Christiansen added a goal, an assist and four groundballs, Jim Cramer had a goal, an assists and two groundballs, Ryan Acuna had one assist and five groundballs and Joe Plummer had an assist and four groundballs. Max Schubert made 10 saves to earn the win.
Owen J. Roberts 16, Bishop Shanahan 2
Kohl Batdorf amassed six goals and four assists for OJR in its non-league laugher.
CB West 13, Souderton 2
Lee Stiles scored both goals for Souderton (1-3).
Conestoga 11, Sewickley Academy 4
Paul Mita, Matt Smith and Ryan Lord each scored two goals as the Pioneers, ranked first in the state in the Media Rankings and first by Phillylacrosse.com, moved to 4-0 with the easy win. The victory gave coach Brian Samson (eighth season) his 100th career win.
Downingtown West 13, Bayard Rustin 6
Jamie Raezor scored four goals and Eric Sanders and Ryan Higgins had three apiece for the Whippets in their Ches-Mont League win.
Devon Prep 9, Collegum Charter 6
Devon Quinn White had four goals, Pete Delong added a pair and James Meyer, Colin Feeney and Andrew Fletcher all had one apiece for the Tide. Freshman Pat Robbins had one assist. Andrew Robie was strong at long stick midfield and Matt Baldassano was a key at close defense. Zac Chunglo also turned in another solid effort in goal with 11 saves as Devon Prep improved its record to 3-1.
Unionville 8, Holy Ghost Prep 6
Richard Kaiser netted three goals and Joe Lisicky added two for the Indians.
