Men’s recruit: Neshaminy’s Forman will do his business at Providence

Neshaminy's Alex Forman will play at Providence

Neshaminy senior midfielder Alex Forman has signed a letter of intent to play next year at Providence University.

Forman, an Honorable Mention All-Suburban One National Conference choice last season, was spotted by Friars coach Chris Burdick at a summer tournament in Maryland.

“The coach liked my style of play and sent me an e-mail after seeing me play at the tournament,” said Forman. “I went up and visited and loved the school.”

Forman, who plans to major in business, is optimistic that Neshaminy can make a push in the National Conference race. Last year the Redskins went 11-7 and finished second to Abington in the Suburban One National race.

.   “We are definitely going to be good,” he said. “Our starting lineup is real strong; there is a lot of talent to start. We’re not real deep, but we can make some things happen.

“I’m going to have to run both offensive and defensive middie and do a lot of transition work.”

Forman said the Redskins’ program has grown considerably since it was elevated to the varsity level when he entered as a freshman.

“We’ve come a long way since we started as freshmen,” he said. “The players have a lot more experience and as a team we’ve become really close. We’ve been together since freshman year and we’ve played all year long in summer and fall leagues.”
