Merrick Thomson was named National Lacrosse League (NLL) rookie of the week after leading the Philadelphia Wings past the defending league champion Rochester Nighthawks last week.
Thomson scored three goals and added three assists to help the Wings claim a 15-14 win at the Wachovia Center and improve their early-season record to 2-0. Thomson also scooped up five loose balls.
Thomson has seven goals and five assist in his first two games to lead all NLL rookies. The former University of Albany standout was the second overall pick in this year’s NLL draft.
