Team USA faces England in Under-19 World Championship semifinals

Four local players will lead Team USA into the semifinals this afternoon (4:00) against England in the International Lacrosse Federation U-19 World Championship at Coquitlam, British Columbia.

The U.S. team is the top seed after finishing 5-0 in pool play. The last of those wins was a 24-4 rout of England on Monday.

In the other semifinal at 7:15, Canada (4-1) will meet the Iroquois Nationals (3-2). The championship game at slated for Saturday at 2:30 p.m., following the third-place game.

In five pool-play games, Matt Mackrides (Malvern Prep/Penn State freshman) had 14 goals and James Green (Central Bucks East/Ohio State junior) added eight goals. Matt Dolente (Malvern Prep/Johns Hopkins sophomore) won 81 of 127 face-offs (64 percent) and John Lade (Randolph, N.J./Villanova sophomore) has been a mainstay for the defense.
