Rutgers women’s coach Laura Brand-Sias, a 1995 Radnor High graduate, announced this week the signing of seven players to letters of intent in the early signing period.
The players include Stephanie Anderson (Wading River, N.Y.), Aimee Eileen Chotikul (Baltimore, Md.), Stephanie Dickson (Smithtown, N.Y.), Lindsay Harris (Ijamsville, Md.), Lily Kalata (Nesconset, N.Y.), Amanda Trendell (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Rachel Welch (Medford, N.J.) all plan to suit up for the Scarlet Knights in 2010.
“We were able to accomplish many of our program goals with this class,” said Brand-Sias. “Not only were we able to recruit first class athletes, but we have added to the quality of our program in both character and academics.”
Rutgers went 7-10 last year and finished 2-3 in Big East play under Brand-Sias, entering her seventh year at the helm.
Brand-Sias was also a member of the Canadian National Lacrosse Team from 1999-2004 and was a starter for the 2001 Canadian World Cup squad that placed fourth, losing to England in the bronze-medal game.
Brand-Sias was a four-year letterwinner at midfield for Rutgers (1996-99), helping lead the Scarlet Knights to their first-ever national ranking and NCAA Tournament appearance in 1999. Brand-Sias, who had dual citizenship, was also a member of the Canadian National Lacrosse Team from 1999-2004 and was a starter for the 2001 Canadian World Cup squad that placed fourth, losing to England in the bronze-medal game.
