Ohio State’s James Green (Central Bucks East) scored three goals for the U.S. Under-19 national team Saturday in an exhibition game against New Jersey all-stars at Bridgetown Rariton High that was called at halftime due to a thunderstorm.
The New Jersey all-stars were leading 7-6 when the game was halted. The U.S. team was playing in its second exhibition game as it prepares for the World Championships July 3-12 in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada.
Assisting on goals by Green – a junior-to-be at Ohio State – were Penn State signee Matt Mackrides (Malvern Prep) and Villanova sophomore-to-be John Lade.
This Saturday at 4:30 p.m., the U.S. team will play an all-star team sponsored by the Philadelphia Lacrosse Association at the United States Training Center in Downingtown.
The team will be comprised of players from Eastern Pennsylvania who graduated from high school last year and this year, as well as some seniors-to-be. The squad is being coached by Malvern Prep mentor John McEvoy.
