HS roundup: Great Valley girls stay undefeated, top Spring-Ford

Kim Wenger scored five goals while Keelin Hood and Emily Ellisen added four each to help Great Valley down host Spring-Ford, 18-6, Thursday in non-league girls’ action.

The Patriots, ranked fourth by Phillylacrosse.com, are 3-0. The Rams fell to 4-1.

Haley Sheehan and Carolina Dodds added two goals apiece for Great Valley and Stephanie Berger posted 11 saves in goal. Allie Kakareka and Laura Riegel each scored two goals for Spring-Ford.

Elsewhere in girls’ action:

Emily Garrity pumped in seven goals while Annalise Penikis and Kelly Ruffini had five each to help fifth-ranked Strath Haven (4-1) down visiting Harriton, 22-3. Courtney DeVinney added three goals and three assists for the Panthers while Alex Duckenfield had a goal and four assists. Laura Walzer had two goals for the Rams.

Conestoga blanked visiting Upper Darby, 17-0, in its Central League opener as Taylor Mallory had four goals and three assists and Amy Bernier and Murphee Greeley added three goals and one assist each. Kaitlin Hildebrand and Courtney Zitin had two goals each for the Pioneers (2-1).

Julie Mineweaser collected seven goals and Abbie Hartman added four more to spark visiting North Penn to a 16-5 Suburban One National triumph over host Pennridge. Ali Green added two goals for the Maidens (2-1, 2-0).

In boys’ action:

Haverford School, ranked No. 1 by Phillylacrosse.com, bowed to Lawrenceville School (N.J.), 10-9. Ben Bourke, Morgan Young and Rory O’Connor had two goals each for the Fords (4-2).
