Girls’ lacrosse: Great Valley tops Downingtown West in battle of unbeatens

Emily Ellisen tossed in eight goals Friday to spark host Great Valley to a 19-16 victory over Downingtown West in a battle of unbeaten teams ranked in the top 10 of the Phillylacrosse.com Scholastic Girls Poll.

Kim Wenger added five goals and three assists for the third-ranked Patriots (6-0) while Haley Sheehan and Jasmine Columbel added two goals each. Stephanie Berger posted 12 saves.

Courtney Sicinski and Jaymie Tabor scored four goals apiece for the eighth-ranked Whippets (7-1).

Sarah Phillips added three goals and dished off six assists while Kelsay Tabor notched three goals.

Episcopal 15, Notre Dame 11

Megan Spagnola pumped in six goals to help the host Churchwomen (5-0, 3-0) deal the Irish (5-1, 2-1) its first loss of the year in a key Inter-Ac League contest.

Taylor Trimble and Sammi Arbitman (two assists) scored three goals each for Episcopal while Blake McHugh added two more. Caitlin Powers posted 10 saves for the win.
Germantown Academy 15, Agnes Irwin 13

Kate Henrich scored five goals and had two assists to lead the host Patriots (5-2, 2-1) to an Inter-Ac triumph over the Owls (2-3, 1-3).

Heather Rittenhouse added four goals and two assists for GA while Amanda Jones had two goals. Goalie Taylor Houck made eight saves for the victory.

Katie James, Caroline Keating and Olivia Goodman scored three goals each for Agnes Irwin
