Anne Phillips, a Henderson graduate and former coach at Owen J. Roberts who built Franklin & Marshall into a Division III champion, was named head coach at Yale late Monday.

Phillips guided F&M to the national championship in 2007 and to the championship game this year. Phillips went to Franklin & Marshall after leading Owen J. Roberts to a District One Class AA title in 2001 while being named Coach of the Year by The Inquirer.

Phillips, who was the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Coach of the Year in 2007, had a 93-24 recor d at F&M.

Phillips, then known as Anne Ricciuti, actually helped form the first women’s team as an undergraduate at F&M. She scored 99 goals in two seasons before her career was ended by knee injuries.

Phillips is chairman of the US Lacrosse National Team Selection Committee and was a US Lacrosse National Team selector in 2007. She has been a member of the National All-American Selection Committee since 2003 and has been a member of the United States Lacrosse Coaches Council since 2006.

Phillips was also the director of Girls’ Lacrosse for the Keystone State Games from 1998 to 2002.

Phillips takes over a Yale program that went 11-5 in 2008 and ended the season ranked No. 17 in the IWLCA poll.
