Tony Resch of the Philadelphia Barrage has been named the 2008 Brine Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Coach of the Year.

Resch was selected by the general managers and head coaches of the 10 MLL teams.

Resch, who also won the award in 2006, becomes the second coach in MLL history to be named as the Coach of the Year twice. Scott Hiller earned the award in 2002 and 2005 when he was the head coach of the Boston Cannons.

This year Resch led the two-time defending MLL champion Barrage to a 7-5 record despite having no home games. Philadelphia will compete in its their third straight  NB Zip MLL Championship Weekend at Harvard Stadium and will face the top-seeded and Eastern Conference champion Rochester Rattlers Saturday, Aug. 23 in the first semi-final at 12 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

Resch, also the athletic director and assistant coach at La Salle High, has a 30-18 regular-season record in four seasons.
