College roundup: Cullinan (W. Chester East), Porter (Phoenixville) lead E-town past Arcadia

Sarah Cullinan (West Chester East) scored four goals and added three assists and Becky Porter (Phoenixville) added four goals to lead Elizabethtown College to a 21-1 win over Arcadia in Middle Atlantic Conference women’s lacrosse action Friday.

Meg Cassels (Great Valley) added two goals for the Blue Jays (1-1 overall, 1-0 MAC) and goalie Nicole Day (Downingtown East) split time in goal. Elizabethtown led 15-0 at halftime and finished with a 37-3 advantage in shots over the Knights (0-1 overall, 0-1 MAC).

Stephanie Holguin scored the lone goal for Arcadia (0-1)

Division I

Ohio State 16, Duquesne 6

Gabby Capuzzi (Archbishop Carroll) scored two goals and Tewaaraton Watch List nominee Kelly Haggerty (Unionville) added a goal and two assists to spark the visiting Buckeyes (3-2).

Navy 17, Monmouth 5

Freshman Kathy Young (Villa Maria Academy) scored once for the host Mids (6-0). Megan Brennan (Archbishop Carroll) had a goal and two caused turnovers for Monmouth (0-3).

Men

Yale 13, UMass 12

Colin Still (Penn Charter) scored once for the host Bulldogs (2-0) as they downed the No. 12 Minutemen (2-1).

Division II

Rollins 9, Pfeiffer 8

Two Philly grads led the defense as the host Tars improved to 2-2 in Winter Park, Fla. Freshman Nick Scannapieco (Wissahickon) had five groundballs and a caused turnover. Sophomore Andrew Hanna (St. Joseph’s Prep) had one caused turnover. Rollins has won two straight, having won its first Deep South Conference game ever Monday in an 11-8 home triumph over Wingate. In that game, Scannapieco and Hanna held the Tars stifle Wingate in 11 of 12 man-down opportunities.
