Great Valley senior midfielder Tommy Belmont has committed to play Division III lacrosse at Gwynedd Mercy College.

Tommy Belmont log:

Tommy Belmont

High school: Great Valley High School

Graduation year:
2012

Position: Midfield

College choice: Gwynedd-Mercy College

Club affiliation: Black Bear Elite

Major lacrosse showcases: Philly Showcase, F4 Showbine and Battle of the Hotbeds

What will you major in/study: Undecided

Why did you choose school? “I really liked Head Coach Dana Lindstrom. When I first met him, I knew I wanted to play for him for 4 years. I like the positive direction that he has the team going in. They are competing for a CSAC championship and that was something that I wanted to be a part of. I really like the family atmosphere that the team has. When I went for my overnight, all of the players made me feel welcome and I like how it is close to home so my parents, coaches, and family members can come and watch me play.”

Outlook for your high school team: “Coming off a great season last year, we have high expectations for this season. We have a great offense and a great defense. Our goal is to win the Ches-Mont League and go far in the playoffs. We have a great group of returning and new players that have been working hard every day.”

Other comments: “I would like to thank my parents for pushing me as hard as they did. I would like to thank Great Valley Head Coach Tony Verna for helping me in the recruiting process and for making me into the player I am today. I would also like to thank my neighbor Colin Shaw who trained me for the past two years. He is a big part in my development as a lacrosse player and is a major reason why I am playing lacrosse in college.”
