From Press Release

The Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) have signed defenders Pat Heim (Conestoga), Jeff Bigas (Penncrest), Jeff Reynolds, Ryan McFadyen, Matt Stefurak, transition player David Brock and rookie goal tender Steve Fryer to one-year contracts for the 2012 season.

The signings will dramatically bolster the Wings on the defensive side of the ball. Heim was drafted by the Wings in 2007 after playing collegiately at Penn State University and tallied six assists and recovered 27 loose balls during the 2011 season.

Bigas first signed with the Wings in 2005 as a free agent and was reacquired during the 2010 Orlando Titans Dispersal Draft. Last season Bigas recovered seven loose balls in five games.

Reynolds graduated from the University of Maryland as one of the nation’s top midfielders and enters his third season with the Wings. Last year Reynolds led the Wings defense, recovering a team-high 97 loose balls.

McFadyen enters his third season in the NLL and scored one goal, one assist and recovered eight loose balls in limited action last season.

In the fifth round of the 2011 NLL Draft, the Wings selected Stefurak, who played four seasons at the University of Delaware as one of the team’s top defenders.

Brock enters his second season with the Wings after being acquired via trade from the Boston Blazers during the 2011 NLL season. Last season Brock contributed three goals, two assists and recovered 41 loose balls in 11 games played.

Fryer joins the Wings from Brampton, Ontario as the team’s fourth round draft pick and will bolster the team’s depth at goaltender.

The Wings have also announced that forward Dean Hill has been released from the team.

Fans can catch their first glimpse of the 2012 Philadelphia Wings team against the Rochester Knighthawks at Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, NJ, on Sunday, December 11 at 1 p.m. The Wings will open the 2012 regular season against the Knighthawks at Wells Fargo Center on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 7 p.m.
