Salesianum School (DE) senior goalie Matt Barone has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Marquette University.

Matt Barone log:

Matt Barone

High School: Salesianum, DE (Garnet Valley, PA, native)

Graduation Year: 2012

Position: Goalie

College Choice: Marquette University

Club Affiliation: Braveheart (New Jersey)

Major lacrosse honors:
All-State selection, Top 205 Rising Seniors All-Star Game, ESPN Rise Top 8 Goalies to Watch: East Region

Academic honors: 4.0 GPA, National Honor Society, volunteer at Don Guanella School

What will you major in/study?
Engineering

Why did you choose school? “Marquette is located in a great area and has a very solid engineering program. The campus felt like the right fit as well. After meeting with Coach (Joe) Amplo and some of his staff, Marquette began to seem like a place where I could spend my next four years. I am also excited for the fact that I will be a part of a completely new lacrosse program next fall. The whole community seems to be eager for the program to start up.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “We lost a very talented and driven senior class due to graduation, but with the players we have returning, our goal is to repeat as state champions. We also have a competitive out of state schedule lined up which I’m very excited about as it will prepare us for the state tournament.”

Other comments: “I would like to thank my parents for guiding me through the recruiting process, as well as my Salesianum High School coaches, Bob Healy and Shawn Plews, and Braveheart coach Pat McDonough.”
