Strath Haven senior attackman Mark Dolphin has signed a National Letter of Intent to play Division I lacrosse at St. Joseph’s University.

Dolphin scored 26 goals last year, helping the Panthers advance to the second round of the District 1 playoffs. Dolphin also had 23 goals as a sophomore when he earned All-Central League honorable mention status.

A consistent Honor Roll student, Dolphin plans to study business at St. Joe’s, which in 2011 will join the Colonial Athletic Association. The Hawks, coached by Pat Cullinan, currently play in the MAAC.

“I wanted to be close to the city and home, and I like the area,” Dolphin said.

Dolphin will be joined at St. Joseph’s by three Philly recruits: Haverford School senior midfielder Billy Annesley, La Salle midfielder Anthony Cognetti, and Central Bucks East attackman Brian Urban.

Dolphin, named a captain for the Panthers this year, also plays club lacrosse for Competitive Edge and Tomahawk. In June he competed in the Eastern Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association Showcase at Haverford College. Dolphin also was a starting offensive lineman on the Strath Haven football team.

Dolphin is optimistic the Panthers can again be a factor in the Central League and contend for a playoff berth.

“This season I want us to try the best we can and go as far as possible,” Dolphin said.
