After two tough losses, the Strath Haven girls’ lacrosse team rebounded in style Tuesday night at Garnet Valley.

The Panthers’ Sara Carzo tied the game with 7.2 seconds to play in regulation and Morgan Glassford won it in OT with her fourth goal of the game to lift the Panthers to a thrilling 14-13 victory over the previously-undefeated Jaguars in a key Central League game.

Strath Haven (3-2 overall) improves to 1-1 in the league. The Panthers – a defending tri-champion formerly ranked No. 1 in the PIAA in the PA Media Rankings – had dropped its league opener to Harriton and Saturday fell to New Jersey power Moorestown, 14-1 at home. Garnet Valley fell to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the league.

Glassford’s game-winner came with 2:36 remaining in the second OT frame. Jenna Frost also scored four goals and Alex Duckenfield added three goals and three assists. Lela Meunier was strong in the goal with 15 saves.

“This Strath Haven team is the one that I’ve known since November,” said Panthers first-year coach Rachel Busza. “These ladies believe in what they have been and it’s taken up to now (to find it) after tough losses to Harriton and Moorestown.”

Busza noted that Carzo has come back strong from a serious knee injury. Busza also credited her team’s overall play and her coaching staff of Stephanie Keefer and Laurie Hatton.

“I am so proud of all parts of SHHS.” she said. “Especially the parts of my team that are not reflected in stats. They played well together last night.

Halley Barnes had four goals and two assists and AnneElise Morello added three goals and four assists for the Jags.
