Wings fall to 4-6 after loss to Toronto; host Calgary tonight in game to benefit HEADstrong Foundation

The host Toronto Rock earned a 15-10 victory over the Philadelphia Wings in front of 10,120 fans at the Air Canada Centre on Friday night, dropping the Wings further out of the playoff race in the National Lacrosse League’s East Division.

Stephan Leblanc led the Rock with seven points (3G, 4A) while Garrett Billings added with four points (2G, 2A). The Rock is 9-2 and leading the East Division.

Matt Alrich (2g) had given the Wings a 9-9 tie midway through the third period, but near the end of the quarter, newly active forward Rob Hellyer scored a behind-the-back goal that initiated the fans and gave his squad a 10-9 lead.

The Rock capitalized on the momentum shift to open the fourth stanza as Sandy Chapman, Manning and Leblanc scored to make it 13-9.

Forward Athan Iannucci (4g) led the attack and Alex Turner added two goals.

The Philadelphia Wings return home to the Wells Fargo Center tonight to host the Calgary Roughnecks (minus former Wings tough guy/face-off standout Geoff Snider, who is out with a lower body ailment) at 7 p.m. in the 2nd annual “HEADStrong Night out with the Wings” event. Custom, lime green game jerseys will be auctioned off post-game to benefit the HEADstrong Foundation.

HEADstrong Fans can attend the game and sit with the HEADstrong group by purchasing these Lower Level Corner Seats for a Special Price of only $22.00 each. (Face Value = $36.00)

These tickets are available only to HEADstrong Foundation supporters online at www.wingslax.com/headstrong.

Lower level tickets start at $10 and are available online at http://www.wingslax.com or by phone at 215-389-WING (9464).
