Duke sophomore Dan Wigrizer – a former Haverford School standout who helped the Blue Devils win their first NCAA championship as a starter last year – is listed as the team’s No. 1 goalie.
One Wigrizer’s chief competitors for the starting spot, junior Sean Brady, was dismissed from the team for undisclosed misconduct, according to a spokesperson for the Duke lacrosse team.
Brady had been expected to be the starter last year, but missed the entire season due to academic problems.

Wigrizer, a two-time All-American in high school, still finds himself in a battle for the starting spot with senior Mike Rock. The Blue Devils begin defense of their national crown Saturday against Siena in Durham, N.C
Last year, Wigrizer started 16 games and had a 50.8 save percentage and 9.41 goals-against average. Rock started three games.
