Two Philly girls – Episcopal Academy midfielder Taylor Trimble and Downingtown East goalie Allie Murray – have been named to the final roster for the US Under-19 team.

The girls were notified Monday night before the 18-woman roster was released today by US Lacrosse following the Champion Challenge Saturday at Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Trimble and Murray will compete as members of Team USA at the FIL U19 World Championships Aug. 3-13 in Hannover, Germany.

In Saturday’s event at the Disney Complex, the US training team (24 members) won two games, over Rollins College and Jacksonville. Murray had nine saves in the 12-8 victory over Rollins and Trimble scored once in the 12-10 triumph over Jacksonville.

Trimble, a two-time winner of the Heather Leigh Albert award for the top player at the US Lacrosse National Tournament, was an All-American and an All-Phillylacrosse.com pick last year while leading EA to its sixth straight Inter-Ac League crown.

Trimble, who has signed a Letter of Intent to play at Duke, also was named as the No. 2 senior in the nation by ESPN RISE and was one of the top 10 Young Guns in Inside Lacrosse’s listing of the top rising seniors during the summer. Trimble, who had 70 goals and 30 assists last year, plays for the Phantastix club team.

Murray, who has signed with Notre Dame, also was an All-Phillylacrosse.com pick last year when she led the Cougars to a fifth-place finish in the District 1 tournament and a berth in the state quarterfinals. She played on the Philly Under Armour team at the UA Underclassmen Games in the summer. She plays club lacrosse for PA Express.

“For every single player on the team, it was down to this weekend,” said Team USA head coach Krystin Porcella. “We felt like we made some good decisions [at tryouts] in August that it was that close down to the wire.”

The team includes two sets of high school teammates. Attacker Cortney Fortunato, the team’s youngest player and a sophomore at Northport (N.Y.) High School, will reunite with Northport senior midfielder Shannon Gilroy for Team USA. Attacker Brigid Smith and defender Caileigh Sindall, meanwhile, are both seniors for Good Counsel just outside Washington, D.C.

Attacker Covie Stanwick will continue a family legacy in the US Lacrosse national teams programs. Stanwick’s older sisters Sheehan and Coco played for U.S. Elite and U19 teams, respectively. Coco was the captain of the 2003 U.S. U19 team that won a gold medal at the world championships in Towson, Md. Stanwick’s older brother, Steele, made the 2008 U.S. U19 men’s national team that won gold in Coquitlam, British Columbia, but could not participate due to injury.

The 2011 U.S. U19 women’s national team includes 10 US Lacrosse high school All-Americans, six players each from Maryland and New York, three from Massachusetts, two from Pennsylvania and one from New Jersey. Midfielder Madison Acton, who appeared on the cover of the January issue of Lacrosse Magazine, leads the Massachusetts contingent.

Team USA has won 20 consecutive games in U19 international play dating back to 1999. The U.S. has won gold medals in the last three world championships after falling to Australia in the 1995 final, its lone defeat in 27 games.

The current U.S. U19 team will regroup May 28-29 at Stony Brook University in New York for the US Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament before moving onto the FIL World Championship Aug. 3-14 in Hannover.
