Highly-rated sophomore midfielder Matt Rambo has transferred from Abington to La Salle and will be eligible to play this spring.

Matt Rambo

Rambo led the Philly area in goals last year as a freshman with 78 when he earned All-Eastern Pennsylvania Scholastic Lacrosse Association honors and was the only non-junior to make the Philly Under Armour Underclassmen team. Rambo helped the Ghosts claim their fourth straight Suburban One National Conference title and reach the semifinals of the District 1 tournament.

Rambo was listed on the Inside Lacrosse Watch List of top Rising Sophomores last summer. He also was an All-Suburban One First Team pick and made the Fab 40 All-Star Game at the Philly Showcase in November.

Rambo told Phillylacrosse.com that his transfer was for academic reasons and to help prepare him for college.

La Salle reached the state finals last year after winning the state championship the previous two seasons. The Explorers also were the team that defeated Abington, 11-10, last year in the first round of the state playoffs. In that game, Rambo had three goals and was a dominant player at midfield.

Already at La Salle is another Inside Lacrosse Watch List Rising Sophomore midfielder, Sean Coleman, who plays with Rambo on the Duke’s Lacrosse Club.
