Conestoga senior midfielder Taylor Lawlor has made a commitment to play Division III lacrosse at Gettysburg College.

Conestoga's Taylor Lawlor (front) has committed to Gettysburg

Lawlor was a key contributor last year for the Pioneers, who advanced to the quarterfinals of the District 1 tournament. She plays club lacrosse for the Phantastix.

Lawlor was impressed with the Bullets’ past success under head coach Carol Cantele (Strath Haven graduate). Gettysburg went 18-4 last year and reached the NCAA semifinals.

“They have a strong academic profile, which was a high priority of mine,” sakid Lawlor, who has not chosen a major yet. “The lacrosse program that Coach Carol runs with Katie (Hagan) and Barb (Jordan) is really impressive. I fell in love with the lacrosse program just as fast as I fell in love with the school.

“I also chose Gettysburg because as a school it fits me. It’s two hours away from my house, which is a perfect distance. Basically, all the puzzle pieces were there!”

Lawlor, who has been on the Honor Roll every year, said the Pioneers have high expectations for 2011. The team already has three seniors that have committed to Division I colleges: .

“I’m really excited for this upcoming season,” Lawlor said. “I think our seniors are really going to step it up, as well as the younger players.

“Coach Amy (Orcutt) has prepared us really well for this upcoming season, and I think we are going to go really far. Honestly, I believe we are going to go to States.

“The talent and team chemistry is incredible, and all the girls really want a successful season. I think the passion, perseverance, and talent we have will take us far.”
