Inside Lacrosse recruit issue: Philly men listed among top recruits by position

Two Philly goalies were listed among the top six in this month’s Inside Lacrosse feature of the Top 15 freshman goalie recruits.

Malvern Prep’s Andrew O’Connell, headed to North Carolina, was the No. 1 goalie recruit. Springfield-Delco’s Austin Kaut, the Phillylacrosse.com Co-Player of the Year, is at

Haverford School's Stephen Aitken (headed to Penn State) is listed among the top attackman

No. 6. Kaut, is headed to Penn State.

Meanwhile, No. 4 Brian Feeney (Summit, NJ) is headed to Penn.

At defense, Philly had five in the Top 40, led by No. 5 Casey Ikeda (headed to Maryland) of Conestoga. Also on the list was No. 18 Stephen O’Hara (Notre Dame) of St. Joseph’s Prep, No. 22 Ty Souders (Lehigh) of Emmaus, No. 32 Jackson Place (Bucknell) of Episcopal Academy, and No. 33 Joe Addona (St. John’s) of Springfield-Delco.

Also, No. 17 Maxx Meyer (Half Hollow Hills East, NY) and No. 38 Joe Benedick (Upper Arlington, Ohio) head to Penn.

At midfield, Philly featured No. 10 Liam O’Connor (Notre Dame) of Haverford School, No. 23 Bobby Hill (Virginia) of Malvern Prep and No. 30 Ryan Buttenbaum (Lehigh) of Conestoga.

Penn landed No. 9 Drew Belinsky (Manhasset, NY) and No. 16 Zack Losco (Hauppauge, NY).

At attack, Lower Merion’s Jordan Wolf, headed to Duke, was No. 3 at his position. Wolf was the Phillylacrosse.com Co-Player of the Year. Also from Philly was No. 24 Stephen Aitken (Penn State) of Haverford School and No. 38 Andrew Mongeluzzi (Towson) of Lower Merion. Wolf (73 goals) and Mongeluzzi (76) combined for 149 goals in 2010.

Also, at No. 31, Kevin O’Neill (Boys’ Latin, MD) is headed to Villanova.
