Phillylacrosse.com Girls’ Rankings: Playoffs heat up this week as top teams square off

Who is the top team in the area? Radnor? Springfield-Delco? Undefeated Great Valley? Red-hot Unionville? We’ll find out this week when the top four teams in the Phillylacrosse.com Girls’ Rankings vie for the District 1 championship. This week’s rankings:

1. Radnor (20-1) –
The Red Raiders topped Conestoga, 17-9, in the District 1 quarterfinals and meet No. 4 and fifth-seeded Unionville in the semifinals Tuesday at West Chester East at 8 p.m. (Prev: 1)

2. Springfield-Delco (19-1) – The Cougars handled North Penn, 17-8, in the quarterfinals and meet No. 3 and second-seeded Great Valley in the semifinals Tuesday at West Chester East at 6 p.m. (Prev: 2)

3. Great Valley (21-0) – The Patriots put their undefeated record on the line Tuesday when they face No. 2 Springfield-Delco in the semifinals at West Chester East at 6 p.m. (Prev: 4)

4. Unionville (19-2) – The Indians avenged three defeats to Strath Haven over the past two years in their 13-10 win in the quarterfinals. They meet No. 1 Radnor at West Chester East at 8 p.m. in the semifinals. (Prev: 5)

5. Strath Haven (17-2) – The Panthers fell to Unionville, 13-10, in the quarterfinals and face Central League foe Conestoga at Henderson at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the first round of play-backs. (Prev: 3)

6. Archbishop Carroll (13-5) – The Patriots aim for their 10th straight Catholic League championship when they face Archbishop Wood today at 5 p.m. at Bonner-Prendergast. (Prev: 6)

7. Episcopal Academy (16-5) – EA won its sixth straight Inter-Ac League championship and finished the year with 10 straight wins. (Prev: 7)

8. Downingtown East (16-5) – The Cougars fell to Great Valley, 10-6, in the quarterfinals and meet North Penn in the play-backs Tuesday at a site to be determined, (Prev: 9)

9. North Penn (18-2) – The Maidens dropped a 17-8 decision to Springfield-Delco in the quarterfinals and meet Downingtown East in a play-back game Tuesday at a site to be determined. (Prev: 10)

10. Notre Dame (14-5) – The Irish settle for second place in the Inter-Ac League behind Episcopal Academy, having lost both games to EA by one goal (Prev: NR)

Under Consideration (alphabetic order): Abington (13-6), Archbishop Wood (13-5), Boyertown (16-5), Conestoga (13-8), Council Rock North (14-2), Harriton (13-7), Merion Mercy (15-5), Upper Dublin (18-1), Wissahickon (17-3).
