Morris Knolls (N.J.) 2017 attackman/midfielder Shane Dougherty has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Rutgers University.

Club Affiliation: Leading Edge

Major lacrosse honors, camps and showcases: Nike Blue Chip and Brine National

What will you major in/study? Undecided

Why did you choose Rutgers? “I chose Rutgers to get a great education, and the opportunity to play lacrosse at the highest level possible. Rutgers is taking steps in all the right directions, such as joining the Big 10 conference.”

Outlook for your High School team? “We’re all excited for 2015. We have a very talented senior class and are returning majority of our team.”

Thank You: “I would like to thank everyone that has gotten me to this point, starting off with my parents for always supporting me in everything I do, and putting in all the time and effort they have. Next I would like to thank my neighbor Jim Shaeffer, and youth coach, Tom Maginley, for introducing me into the game. Next I would like to thank my youth organization, the Rock-Den Renegades, and coaches, again Tom Maginley and Peter Franchi for teaching me to play and more. Along with that I would like to thank my high school coach, Coach (Terrence) Reilly for everything he has done for me, such as being a great coach and giving me advice both on and off the lacrosse field. Along with those mentioned, I would like to thank all of my friends and family for pushing me to become a better person, student and lacrosse player. Next, I would like to thank Leading Edge coach Chris Roy for all he has done for me, such as being a great coach and guiding me through the recruiting process, along with offensive Coach Gregg Malfa for pushing me to become a better player. Lastly, I would like to thank my school, Morris Knolls and everyone in it, along with my club team Leading Edge for everything they’ve done for me.”
