From Press Release
The National 175 has announced that Mid-Atlantic region tryouts for Team National Stars and Stripes will be held on Wednesday, July 23 at Plymouth Whitemarsh High in Plymouth Meeting, PA.
Boys from any region in the graduation classes of 2015, 2016 and 2017 are eligible to register by clicking here.
Tryouts for National Stars and Stripes – which will compete against Team Maple Leafs in the inaugural Challenge Cup – are also being held on June 18 at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, CT, and July 3rd at Mitchel Field Complex in Uniondale, Nassau County, Long Island. Players can register for those two tryouts with the same link.
Two teams will be formed in each of the following grades: 2015, 2016 and 2017. Team National Stars and Stripes will be coached by well-known members of the US lacrosse community and will be announced along with the team rosters on August 1st. The games will be held in mid-late September in Upstate New York
The United States and Canada have been constantly fighting to determine the dominant country for lacrosse. Clearly the United States is larger and continues to grow the sport at a rapid rate, but lacrosse is Canada’s national sport and, while hockey is very big in Canada, people underestimate just how much Canadians love lacrosse, both box and field lacrosse. This event will feature 10v10 field lacrosse.
With the World Games coming and the tremendous success many Canadians have had in many of our NCAA programs, Canada’s prominence in lacrosse cannot be ignored. While many Canadians focus heavily on box lacrosse, the Canadians are also growing the field game very rapidly and you see that growth on the college level.
Tryouts for these teams begin on June 18th and we are seeking the top players in the United States. Each team will have 24 players. Players selected for the teams will be notified on August 1st and shortly thereafter, there will be an announcement of the rosters of the complete team.
This is not a recruiting event, however, considering each of the tryouts will be held during the NCAA allowable recruiting window and the quality of players trying out for these teams, it is likely that there may be college coaches attending.
Tryout dates and locations:
June 18th – Choate Rosemary Hall, Wallingford, CT
July 3rd – Mitchell Fields, Uniondale, Nassau County, Long Island
July 23rd – Plymouth Whitemarsh High, Plymouth Meeting, PA (Philly suburbs)
