Zach Ward log:

High School: Hempfield High School, Lancaster County

Graduation Year: 2015

Position: Attack

College: Cornell University

Club affiliations: Duke’s LC, Low and Away of Lancaster

Lacrosse Honors, camps, tournaments: 2nd Team All-League, Central Pa All-American Watchlist, Baltimore Summer Kickoff All-Star, Champ Camp, Tri-State Nationals

Academic honors: Superior Honor roll, Founder of FootSouls Foundation, Toys for Tots volunteer

Intended major: Business

Why did I choose the school:
“I decided on Cornell because I felt at home right when I stepped on campus. I also felt extremely comfortable with Coach (Ben) DeLuca and Coach (Peter) Milliman. Cornell also provides outstanding academics and athletics which I was looking for in a school. It was just a perfect fit for me as a player and person.”

Outlook for 2014 HS season: “Last year we were able to win the league championship and that is something we strive for every year. We had a very strong senior class which we will miss next year, but I feel as though we have the players to replace them and be equally as good as last year and win another LL League title.”

Other comments: “First, I would like to thank my parents and brother for always loving and supporting me. I would not have gotten this far without them. I also would like to thank all the coaches at the Duke’s for giving me the exposure and guidance. Also I would like to thank Coach Kyle Wimer and the coaches of Low and Away Lancaster for making me a better player and guiding me through the whole recruiting process. Another thanks to my high school Coach Dave Ondrusek for making me a better person on and off the field, and for teaching me the game when I was young. Lastly, thanks to Rich Garcia for training me over the years and getting me into the best shape and condition so I can perform at my best.”

Other schools considered: Penn, Delaware, Princeton, Villanova, Hofstra, Towson
