St. Augustine Prep rising sophomore midfielder Jared Chiachetti has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Maryland.

Why did you choose the school? “I have always wanted to play for a top 10 lacrosse school that has a chance to compete for an NCAA Championship every year and is strong academically. Maryland gives me the opportunity to do both. When I visited the campus and met with Coach (John) Tillman and his staff, I knew it was the place for me.”
What are your thoughts on this past HS lacrosse season/team’s outlook for next season? “Last year we were a young team with a tough schedule but still competed at a high level. This upcoming season we have most of our starters back, and we will continue to work hard towards our goal of winning a state championship.”
Other comments: “I would like to thank my parents for supporting me in everything I do. I would also like to thank my coach, J.C. Valore, for all that he does on and off the field. He constantly raises the bar and challenges me to be a better lacrosse player and a better person. Lastly, I would like to thank Coach Tillman and his staff for giving me this opportunity. I am looking forward to being a part of Maryland’s rich lacrosse tradition and excited about competing in the Big Ten.”
