Inter-Ac Invitational live blog: Malvern Prep 11, Lawrenceville 7 (FINAL)

We are here at Cabrini College for the Inter-Ac Invitational semifinals. The first game is No. 1 seed and Inter-Ac League champion Malvern Prep (15-1) vs. No. 4 seed Lawrenceville School (13-6).

The weather is idea and a sell-out crowd is expected for this doubleheader. The second game (7 p.m.) features Episcopal Academy and Haverford School.

1st Quarter

MP – Joe Dunn puts Friars on board off Conor Glancy assist, 8:03

LS – Dylan Key ties it from Wade Maloney, 4:57 – Game is 1-1

MP- Drew Schantz puts Friars back up from Ryan Hilburn, 3:59

LS – Grayson Helm, a PG from Wyomissing and the Dukes LC, ties it from Key, 1:47

End first quarter

LS – Nick Giacco gives the Big Red its first lead, from Key, 8:37 – 3-2 Lawrencevile

MP – Conor Glancy scores in transition from Joe Carlini, 4:01 – now 3-3 game
MP – Chris Hilburn (unassisted) puts Friars back up 4-3. There is 1:28 left in the period

End first half

LS – Helm unassisted, now 4-4 with 9:30 to go

Lawrenceville School freshman goalie Griffin Thompson is keeping his team even

Malvern has possession for a while, but does not manage a high-percentage shot

MP – Tommy O’Connor puts Friars ahead 5-4 off assist from Joe Carlini, 3:02

MP – Malvern Prep grad PJ Finley, a post-grad for the Big Red, ties it for Lawrenceville with 14.2 seconds left. Game now 5-5

End 3rd period

MP – Charles Kelly scores off his own FO win, 11:49 Friars up 6-5.

LS – Stephen Clarke unassisted at 11:24

MP – Kevin McGeary puts MP up again, at 10:42 – now 7-6
MP – Joe Dunn scores unassisted for his 2nd of the day, 7:46
MP – O’Connor from Carlini – 7:17
MP – Adam Goldner from McGeary, 5:58 – now 10-6, Friars in control

There are less than 4 minutes to play as Friars control possession

LS – Dan Berg gets Big Red back in it, with 2:06 to go

MP – Chris Hilburn scores unassisted to make it 11-7, 1:31

Game over

Matt Barrett (MP) 8 saves; Charles Kelly named YBA Audi-VW Player of the Game with 15 of 22 FO wins and 1 goal
